Connecting Young People with the Outdoors

Aquarion has long supported the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) “Connecticut Aquatic Resources Education” (CARE) program, which exposes youngsters to the fun of fishing and the joys of the great outdoors while teaching them to be safe and ethical anglers.

In 2007, Aquarion expanded its partnership with the CARE program to support DEP’s “No Child Left Inside” initiative by hosting boys and girls from the Bridgeport YMCA’s summer day camp program for several fishing outings on its reservoirs.

Aquarion allows public fishing in certain reservoirs in Weston, Redding, Monroe and Shelton. A Connecticut fishing license and an Aquarion fishing permit are required. Aquarion fishing permits are available at Aquarion’s Aspetuck Environmental Center in Easton, the town clerks’ offices of Easton, Monroe, Newtown, Redding and Trumbull, and at select area sporting goods stores. For more information about fishing Aquarion’s reservoirs, call our Aspetuck Environmental Center at (203) 452-3511.
